You aren't very well read. A few years back a mother-daugher pair entered Indiana University Med School together, and they graduated together. Mom was 50 going in. I know personally a brilliant woman who entered Harvard Med School at 47. She performed sublimely.

OK. So 24 isn't that old? I'd be 28 when I graduate and start residency.

That's not late at all. More and more people are waiting to go to medical school these days, either building work/research experience, getting a master's or post-bacc first, or deciding to go to medical school years after undergrad. The same trend has long been happening with law and Ph.D. students, so why not medical students? It's probably better to wait a bit to make sure it's something you absolutely want to do (re: not just because you want the money--there are much faster and easier ways of making the same kind of money) and so that you can enjoy pre-medical school life a bit longer, plus you'll be more mature and focused; once you go into medical school, it's going to be a lot of work for a long time.

If it increases my chances of a CGWBT examining my prostate, then I'm all for it.
