4.0 weighted GPA

730 reading

710 math

600 writing

770 on US History SAT II

690 on Biology SAT II

very challenging course load, my school doesn't rank

some EC's:

varsity track and cross country

president of republican club

quiz bowl

student gov't

If you could post a few schools (matches and reaches) that you think I should look at I would really appreciate it. I'm interested in economics. Thanks for your help. I know there are a lot of schools out there and I'm not being specific, but if you could name a few it would be great.

interested in econ as a major so that you can get into ibanking/consulting/whatever? or genuinely interested in econ academically?

Both. Something along the lines of ibanking is what I want to do because I'm interested in that. Thanks for the help so far.

Dartmouth sounds like it would be a great fit for you, but your scores might be a bit too low. Try early decision.

Depending on where you're from, you might also consider Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, Wustl, or Claremont McKenna.

Duke, I believe, is too much of a stretch.

for pure business, just go with wharton/stern/tepper and for some matches/safeties why don't you try UI, UNC, PSU, Babson, USC, etc. USC would prob. be a good match and at the worst if you can't make ibanking at least you crushed enough hot vag during your stay.

wake forest doesn't require sats but then again, its a total shithole. i'd rather go to babson.

My concern here is that you are likely to change majors upon arriving to college. Most of us do. So, while going to schools that are solid in economics isn't a bad idea, you may wish to think about getting a good education, period. The rest will come to you.

As for your qualifications, there are tons of great schools that might interest you, big and small. On the small side you might want to look at Occidental, Kenyon, Oberlin, Connecticut College, Vassar and Haverford. On the bigger end, you may want to consider the University of Michigan, University of Virginia, and the University of Illinois. For middle sized schools, look at the University of Rochester, Case Western Reserve, Emory, Brandeis, Tufts, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt and William & Mary.

You can get an excellent education (and then some) at all of these schools.

Best of success to you.

you sound like someone who medicates her abhorrent (non-) social life by foisting the obvious on internet flamers, so as to, through sheer selfless benediction, accidentally convince herself that her ivy/stanford merits are deserved.

sorry, just being honest.

Yeah, the President of the Republican Club going to Oberlin or Haverford. That's a laugh.

Also, are you looking for an environment to fit your political beliefs? if so, Dartmouth is not the place.

I agree with you that I don't have the numbers for dartmouth. And I don't need where I go to fit in with my political beliefs. That would really limit me when it comes to colleges. I am interested in washington & lee though.

Your safeties should be Boston College; Boston University is easier to get into. I think your reach schools would be, if your a prep, Rice U, Trinity College, and Vanderbilt.

I'm pretty certain you'd get into these, and they all have fine reputations.

Your GPA might be low without the weight. Please write an impressive essay.

Questions?

Where do you live?

What schools have YOU heard of? (my guidance counselor had me write my own list, and that got me researching)
