i'm really sorry to hear you're having such a bad time at penn. My friend is at Wharton (she's a senior now), and she hated it too. I believe she became so disenchanted that she isolated herself for the entire sophomore year...barely came out of her room. But now she's found a group of friends and really likes it. Well she doesn't love it, but it's much better than before. I've been to Penn. Yeah, I think it's a dump. I hate Philly too. But if you find a group of people you can really call your friends, then all the rest will be unimportant. I don't have any advice to give, just don't lose hope so early on, ok? Because it's not going to get any easier to make friends later on. You really have to push yourself to get out there and meet as many people as you possibly can during your freshman year. I know it feels fake and sometimes it seems you meet all the wrong people, but just keep on trying. Good luck!
Oh, and if it really is unbearable, transfer out. But honestly, you're gonna find the same group of kids at almost every other Ivy. Maybe look into some Cali schools? |
