Wife is adamant that she wants to stop at 2 kids, I would love to have 3 or more. Wife is late 30s, so while it would be challenging, she could theoretically squeeze out kid #3. She has said for years that she would get sterilized after #2 no matter what I thought.
Well, today she found out that our insurance might not cover a tubal ligation. So she called me up and told me that I had to pay for it out of pocket. And I calmly informed her that I would not, and that if God decided to send us another child, that would be great. Cue meltdown, crying, saying it isn't fair, saying I'm being selfish (huh?), etc. I'm traveling for work at the moment and she has texted me fewer than a dozen words since.
Is this the final indignity? Not only do I not get a third child, not only does my wife sterilize herself, but now I'm supposed to pay my hard earned money to do it? A few thousand bucks for an operation is not the issue here, it's just a bridge too far.
So what should I do? Stick to my guns? Extract some sort of compromise? XO's thoughts are appreciated as always. |
