The non-OCI pipeline for jobs doesn’t exist for basically any career imo

my two nephews found success getting contracting jobs for the govt, so like you get a job through a contractor (who pays you shit but its fine because ur like 21) for the govt (usually requiring a security clearance) do that for like a year max two ad transition to higher paying job or just stay since its essentially an unfirable position if you transition to govt

He needs a job to get coding experience? A job is only a distraction from writing code, and for any true Engineer, being offered money to code is as sleazy and demeaning as being paid for sex. Where are his contributions to the Linux kernel? Where is his oss library for Erlang-native matrix operations? A job? If he's good enough, they'll trick him into a job with their lies and once hired he'll put the silly money they shove at him into a checking account whose balance he never looks at while he continues to live exactly the same way as ever, eating ramen every night in his efficiency apartment.

I watched 15 seconds of the video and it turned out to be exactly what I predicted. "I got into the field because I built my own PC and never did anything but school projects." At least he has the self-awareness to realize that he's cooked.

Opus 4.5 was when i realized these people are permanently cooked. Even if he can get a job, agentic coding will make the pay and working conditions increasingly shitty until he is fired. Trying to become more competitive for these positions misses the point. It’s over
