The absolute state of gaming: Everyone is ABSOLUTELY DESPERATE for sales

Date: January 5th, 2026 8:48 PM Author: Laughsome Hall This year was particularly ridiculous. Steam moved their "fall sale" up because it was too close to the "winter sale." This meant that there was no "steam sale" during black friday, so all of the publishers just had their own bespoke sales around then. But they never ended -- instead the "winter sale" started and all of the games just remained the same price from the bespoke sales. The result was that all of these games were "on sale" for basically 2.5 months straight.
Now all of these "sales" by all rights should be over. There is no way they can be maintained with any veneer of plausible respectibility. The "winter sale" is done. The holidays are over. But these publishers just cant get enough. They need "bonus winter sales":

The bottom line is that they are absolutely desperate. The house of cards is collapsing. Gaming is turning into a trip to a Jos A Bank outlet. |

And it isn’t about satisfying “the gamers” who are largely retarded and don’t have any idea what they really want. There just needs to be more Curation - less is more and all that. Bring budgets down, throw out dead weight, reroute some of the money to pay real Engineers, use real artists, etc. No more “big tentpole AAA” nonsense.
