If you look at the voting trends in Europe there's 3 major parties in every country now. The major metros are all full of third world socialists. Paris, London, Berlin. It's all the same. Inner city is all Ilhan Omar type shit. Then the suburbs of said cities are this kind of centre-left neoliberal managerial class. These are NoVa types who would vote for a Youngkin in a pinch but prefer Biden type of characters. They're not race socialists but they lean left on social issues. And the third group are rural whites who are obviously MAGA. This is just Euro style politics come to the US. The benefit here though of the two party system is that at least we're not split three ways which makes the country ungovernable. I think from the Euro mindset the state not being able to do anything too quickly or too radically excepting majority plus agreement or outside of a state of emergency is a benefit, not a malus. One reason amongst many why I'm surprised more cons aren't for a third party in the states, even if it is just a protest one I agree that western european metro politics are an irradiated blast zone, with the bomb's payload being endless immigration from their north african and middle eastern "neighbors" and NGO-pushed migrant policies |

And when the status quo, as driven by the established bureaucracy and their allies in official or unofficial state media, veers to the left, conservatives can't get anywhere despite exploding social and economic problems. That's why despite angry voters in multiple countries and the growth of right wing parties, nothing ever changes and this status quo allows continued large scale migration. People keep saying it's going to reach a tipping point but somehow that never happens.
What's also happening (and which keeps this bureaucratic, antidemocratic status quo forever in power) is as old school boomer soft liberals whose politics are still defined by the world of the 1980s-1990s and rely on the status quo for their pensions, die off, they're replaced by new immigrant voters who suck up to the status quo and rely on it for social benefits.
There is a risk in giving a party significant powers as it can be exploited by the status quo against conservatives, but at the same time it's clear such powers are the only way a conservative government can enact drastic and meaningful change. It's a gamble they need to take. |
