I find the construction "friend group" very chilling and robotic.

"yeah my friend group are...." "[did xyz] with my friend group..." ".. the friend group is thinking to..."
whats key imo is the insular, cliquey way it comes off. Its less about the friends, more about the delineation of the GROUP. The inside and the outside. Its almost like, these people arent even friends, they just enjoy the idea of being in a group, that is closed off
it also dovetails with a little bit of the lockdowns, extremely online stuff wrt specifically 'online' "friends" so maybe instead of calling them friends outright, theyre part of this amorphous irl/online "group" or weird ven diagram thing where they want to refer to discrete clusters of people
I dont have any friends myself fwiw. I just like to observe these things |

like i have a 'gaming' friend group and a 'nazis' friend group and a 'normie guys in my professional industry' friend group as well as some other ones. there's not much overlap between them. i think most people in the Current Year are like this imho |

if anything, it seems like a modern luxury to be able to have friends that you wouldn't otherwise have in the past. like if i was 20 years older i'd probably be stuck with only my normie friends and my birdbrained wife and i wouldn't be able to be honest and get feedback about my thoughts on jews and nigs and artificial intelligence and whatnot |
