No she was 100% guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. She got insanely lucky that the cops blew the investigation. In the first trial the female judge completely lost control of the courtroom. Defense counsel bogged down the trial to the point where the jurors were insanely bored and not paying attention at all. The judge allowed the defense to submit into evidence the most mind numbing unrelated pablum and I think the jury completely tuned out. That trial was absurdly dull and unwatchable.
And the the coup de grace for the defense was the state trooper who took the stand and was forced to admit he texted his buddy saying he scrolled through her phone looking for nudes. At that point the cops were totally unreliable witnesses and the investigation was completely called into question. That being said all the evidence pointed to guilt and the jurors who voted to convict we're really paying attention. She obviously did it. On retrial all of the air was sucked out of the prosecution case after the cop disgraced himself and called into question everything the police were doing. It hung over the whole trial. I never felt for a second like the CW had any hope of securing a conviction upon retrial. They had no ammunition.
So I think she rolled the dice and got insanely lucky that there was a smidge of reasonable doubt. The cops scooping snow with the victim's blood into red solo cups they got from the neighbor and leaving them in the garage at the station was also dumb. The main parallel to me between KR and LC is that cops don't like going to work when it's cold outside. They rather sit indoors eating Dunkin' Donuts.

But such is the nature of jury trials. If she opted for a bench trial she fries. Any judge looking at the evidence goes proof beyond a reasonable doubt. But you get the lead investigator on the stand talking about how he thought the defendant was hot and was hoping to find some tit pics, maybe a dildo insertion video and the jury goes OH MY GOD THESE PEOPLE ARE EVIL. Yeah no one looked at the evidence at all. It was too good a story, too. All that shit with turtleboy and the conspiracies and this idea that he was attacked by the dog and he was inside the home and why did they sell the house so quickly. On and on. Yeah all the noise took over and no one looked at the fact that this witch got drunk, got in a fight with her boyfriend, and ran him over to death. But that's just the emotions of the case.
I will say in a bizarre twist even though I was NGRI from the beginning with LC, seeing the jurors talk about her was genuinely frightening. They didn't just think she was innocent, they fell in love with the defendant. It's like let's circle back here and remember that she strangled her kids. At one point late in the deliberations when it started to look hung I was thinking gee there's probably some juror who's really stuck on manslaughter and trying to move the jurors off of NGRI and onto manslaughter, because surely she's at least a little bit responsible. I didn't know it was 11-1. I didn't know these jurors loved the defendant. There's a difference between being not guilty and being innocent. But those 3 women were like, big time this woman is a hero. Which sort of leaves a bitter taste. Although perhaps not completely unforeseen.
