I played the demo. It seems nihilistic and Liberal. It is also Indie.

I did play a bit of the beginning but haven't sunk into it yet. If it is truly Nihilistic/Liberal I'm sure I will like it even if the "gameplay" is just ok. People criticize Silent Hill for having "bad combat" whatever that means but to me it is beside the point. You are supposed to be just a dude in a hostile world, of course the combat is "bad".

I couldn’t get through SH2 on PS2. I was expecting it to be 10x better than SH1 but I got fatigued when it felt kinda The Same (but better but still)

The gameplay doesn’t seem bad, I’m sure it’s good to get into but idk I can tell it has Western Balancing where the beginning is hard and the end is easy. So I have to invest in learning Timings ingeniously but it doesn’t pay off bc later it gets easy. Every western game does this. So wtf do I do, lower the difficulty?

When I first saw the difficulty slider in oblivion in 2007 I was like “wtf westerners have given up lmao”

I heard that the turn-based element is superfluous because the real-time dodge mechanic allows you to cheese anything anyway. so the skill system is basically just dressing and not relevant. that's kinda deflating imo (and quintessentially Western).

Those 2 things aren’t really at odds. You can have turn based with parry, it’s nbd. You can still have all the things turn based offers.

Issue is parrying and dodging requires trial and error on every single encounter and windup unless you’re an uber Loser. Some Losers have good instincts and can play Elden Ring naked. It’s either from playing 5000k hours of various games or they have better genotypes. But for me this shit is idk I’ll wait until this site dies and I have no good time waster

You have to time the parties/dodges. It's not hard to do well enough to make the game easy, but doodikoff and cowshit would embarrass themselves imo.
