'Britpop' was overly derivative, music-journalist hyped rubbish. it was 97% dreck. maybe like 4 or 5 songs even hold up today.
it's sort of analogous to people who went around saying 'The Strokes' were geniuses for being note-for-note Tribute Band level ripoffs of Television (right down to the goofy 'retro' haircuts and new-wave jackets, etc).
a pathetic anticlimax to 4 decades of British domination of Rock music, lacking any merit whatsoever on any level. |
