apparently lawyers there hold regular protests and gatherings which the government is forced to respect:

they are able to install their members into the government and obtain changes to national laws which they decide to pursue.
this is a country which has been in varying states of civil war since 1996. but the MAJESTY OF THE LAW still prevails.

one of the former mayors of bangui who died recently was a flamboyant lawyer who constantly caused trouble for the government, but the government was never willing to kill him, since he had support from the bar association:
