I'm using plain language, not legalese, so you can understand how it works. These cases will go through the courts till SCOTUS. Sometimes SCOTUS weighs in to uphold the status quo while the suit is pending (which they did for a certain matter a few weeks ago) but it is not the same as permanently preventing firings or shuttering of agencies.
In the long run, some of this will need to go through congress and get congressional approval, others will be found in favor of the administration, certain cuts will be overruled as monies already earmarked and only Congress can revoke it. All agencies are still putting in RIFs starting next month, I think,so the probationary firings ordered to be undone will still face the RIFs and most will be laid off.
The liberal judges are pyrrhic victories for the most part. |
