i had a client in delco for about 10 years and spent a lot of time around there. it's cool seeing all the local references and shit, but the things happening on the show seem completely alien to that area.

still a great show tho.

I’ve noticed midwits always complain about “no likeable characters”. As if intellectually they can’t understand that the writers conceptualized it that way, that they are just reflecting back on the world where no one is Likable afaict. But it’s also about tut-tutting and moralizing (“this character is a horrible person because…”), another thing Losers insist upon for some reason. Everything is some kind of purity test to idiots, it throws them off when you show something grim and real.

We watched 3 hours of the fucking onion knight learning to read, and then in the course of like 40 minutes onscreen Dany falls in love with Jon, fights the knight king, goes berserk at kings landing, and is killed by Jon.

It wasn't that people were mad Dany turned heel, it was that it wasn't earned given the prior pacing of the series.

but that's beside the point. dismissing the experience of one in favor of another's because it aligns with your worldview is just a Bad Faith argument. There are no woes exclusive to OYT, Doodikoff or even a total joke like cowshit. Optimists would have billions suffer so that a select few could experience the "happiness" of a leisurely existence punctuated with bland sensations. I've always regarded this as a wicked and untenable position to hold.

whole story arc is "my brother was killed and I will avenge" + "pursuing vengeance for my brother will destroy me"

and im not being dismissive. really its the only human story and the best human story.
