*Newman gets eaten by a dinosaur*

Well, that’s a shame.

HAMMOND: The park is really quite spectacular. We've spared no expense.

MALCOLM: I think I noticed a few vulnerabilities you may have overlooked.

*laughter*

HAMMOND: Vulnerabilities? Whatever do you mean?

MALCOLM: Those giant electrified fences, for instance. Did you ever consider what might happen if the power fails?

HAMMOND: That's extremely unlikely.

MALCOLM: Life, evolution, you and me here right now. That was extremely unlikely as well.

HAMMOND: The park is perfectly safe for our guests. We've considered every possibility.

MALCOLM: Well, I don't think you have.

*laughter*

And where do they come up these dinosaur names anyway? I mean, Tyrannosaurus Rex? It's like, no wonder he's on a murderous rampage, you hear what his brother Oedipus did to their mom and dad?

iirc in the actual crichton novel Hammond gets eaten by a pack of compsognathus while struggling to get up a hill

that book was actually really grim, reminded me of Ellison at times

it's a good book.

i didn't really get ellison vibes from it--the writing is much more straightforward than anything HE ever did, even in his earliest days, IMO--but I read the book when I was in junior high so maybe there's stuff I've missed.

you've read Sphere, right? That's my favorite Crichton (and that one actually does have some Ellisonian touches around the edges now that I think about it).

also in junior high. i remember being shocked by the sexual content in jp

there was a bitterness in it that i'd recall when i was later introduced to ellison's stuff

sphere i don't think i ever read although i saw the film at some point but don't remember much of anything about it

Hammond: "Oh, that's Mr. DNA! We hired a top comedian for the voice acting, a Mr. Kenny Bania, I'm sure you know his work."

Malcolm (Jerry): *winces*

They watch the video, and Hammond and Ellie laugh at all of Bania's dumb jokes.

The child Timmy Murphy find night-goggles in back of electric vehicle and start playing with them.

TimmyMurphy: "Oh cool, night vision!"

Lawyer Jackie Chiles: "Dem be heavy?"

Tim Murphy nods yes.

Lawyer Jackie Chiles: "If it over 7 pound, you kids put it down!"

Reluctantly, Timmy takes night vision goggles off as it begins to rain harder.
