at the same time, he will be assailed by the left (as he is already) for failing to prosecute Trump sooner. Joe Biden outright said that he wished Garland had attacked Trump sooner so that it would have had a better impact on the election.
basically he was a respected lib jurist on the DC Circuit who got dropped into the meat grinder of DC politics and got completely chewed to bits. he had none of the political savvy or skills necessary to be an AG for a Democrat administration. he fucked his reputation forever.
