if you can't even speak or read the nominal language of your orthodox church (let alone old church slavonic itself), you are a fraud, and you will NEVER be a genuine member of the faith. you are, at most, an absurd LARPer. that's harsh, but true. |

Old generation that came over pre and post fall of Communism are dying off, so are the clergy. A lot of upcoming clergy are either second generation immigrants or first generation but came here when they were young/think of themselves more as American than their parents' ethnicity |

there are plenty of places where not only is the liturgy in english, its the priest's native language and most parishioners are converts or the children of them.
