Yeah
Even cats need to be able to live outside and being shut indoors is devastating for them

If you walk it 2x a day it's not that bad but it seems like most people don't do that, especially proles
Taller dogs need a rural setting though imo. and not some country road where the house is 30 feet from the road where they'll just get hit by a car. a god damn ranch.

This is such a retarded perspective. I have had Great Pyrenees for decades now which are generally rural guard dogs. My first was raised in NYC, my second is in a beach town. Both adore going to restaurants and found real nature to be fairly alarming. My dog today had a fantastic walk where she finally met the 2 other Great Pyrs that live a few blocks over but which we never met because our schedules are usually different. She also won't spent all that much time outside on her own anyway. The idea that she would prefer to live outside on a farm is ludicrous.
If you ignore them and only let them out in the yard instead of giving them several walks every day and leave then in a kennel instead of taking them with you when you travel then that's another matter. But my dog is pretty much always with me.

Yes. When we were in college we did a study abroad and found this place in Canada. This guy had hundreds of acres and on a national preserve and the dogs roamed free. At the time I figured that this seemed like a much better idea than dragging them all the way to Moscow for half a year on two dangerous plane trips. When we got back both for some reason seemed very happy to go home instead of stay "free." Our rottweiler mix was obviously furious that we left her behind.
As an aside, the guy who ran this sadly passed away of cancer but I thought that this was an incredible business model. He posted daily pics that he took of the dogs.
The reality is that most dogs just want a comfortable life in a nice big house with a comfy bed and as much food as they want. You can argue that she is overly domesticated or whatever, but she is nevertheless happy with this. You're talking about a dog that appreciates 5 star hotels.

it’s true that some dogs are fine without a lot of room to run around and that some of the biggest dogs do ok like that
but really what matters is keeping it on your own property. it should be legal to shoot and kill any dog pissing or especially shitting anywhere except on hunting land
