Date: July 15th, 2025 7:09 PM Author: ,.,,,. I now work 7on/14off overnight 10hrs, some weeks start in the afternoon i.e. 4pm or 6pm. New job would be 7on/21off 12am-8am. It would pay a bit more per hour and a bit less per shift and hence make less per year. But I could actually make more per shift because I can moonlight elsewhere at 5pm-9pm at good rates.
The other possibility is I could do extra weeks. I.e. do 14nights on/14off occasionally and make extra $. So I have 13 blocks where I take either 14day or 21day vacation, I decide. I also can do day work elsewhere but it pays less per hour.
Alternative is just switch to a mo-fr 8am-5pm 38wks per year. That pays the same as my 7on/14off. But I can combine it with 5pm-9pm moonligting. |

That's why optimum hours might be 2 jobs of deep nights+ 5pm-9pm (most people hate working after 5). The 8am-5pm that's offered to me is actually elite, i.e. any day job is in fact overstaffed and can take 1hour break to enjoy lunch instead of planning beaks to take a piss. But pays less per hour. The same in my primary job I produce more work in 122shifts than day people do over 220 shifts.. it used to be that if you work nights you suffer physically by sleeping during the day but you actually produced less per hour. In fact my hospital allows any u.s. territory but most hospitals restrict certain states if they don't know tax implications and exclude them. But if I logged in from dubai or barcelona I'd definitely get fired within a week.. and not sure if I'd be at risk of Criminal charges since I am not billing Medicare, they'd be the ones committing "Medicare fraud" by billing for me.
