Now we have Republican representatives from Kentucky (Comer) pleading with the government to leave sanctuary cities alone. There is no deep reservoir of resentment that you can tap into to get normal people to be alright with martial law in the streets. At this point it would be difficult to get an indictment for an anti-ICE attack, much less a conviction. The lower courts so routinely ignore jurisdiction stripping provisions and standing doctrines and limitations on injunctions that DOJ doesn't have the resources to appeal more than one or two exemplar cases up to the shadow docket, the only way they're winning anything in any liberal circuit.
