That is likely one of the main reasons Hegseth purged Secretary of the Army Randy George and other senior Army generals as well.
Unsurprisingly, US military readiness is now at a fifty year low and US intelligence is reporting Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks the US military has been so gravely weakened he is now thinking of invading one or more NATO countries for the first time ever. The purpose of doing so would for Russia to expose Article Five of the Atlantic Charter as a complete and utter farce with the US all but assured not to risk war with Russia in response to such an invasion.
