The rest of the c-suite is a rotating cast of morons who know nothing about the business, come in and give a Ted Talk, and then get fired 2 years later with a $3 mm exit package. |

At many firms it's long timers internally groomed and lower level c suiters tend to move around roles within the company. At F500s you have multiple c suites that are springboards for the global c suite. Connections matters. High emotional intelligence matters. Delivering results matters. Backstabbing matters. Schools you went to don't matter.
When I was younger and knew I wanted to be ambitious, I used to work late whenever VIPs were in the office from out of town. Because they always worked late, which is what you do when traveling for work. Made great connections and got my name known. It paid off. Now I notice the ambitious youngsters who work late. Sounds easy but not everyone can do it.

Want c level? Gotta gun for it. But you also need to know what to do or what not to do. I've seen many who failed because they tried too hard or couldn't read the room in the right way. |

Any objections?” People don’t object usually because they don’t know shit. But if Brian gets unlucky or fucks up then no one can protect him. That’s why the Brians last like 2 years. |
