the only good argument against AI is also the most effective one: that the actual effects of AI on society will be negative, rather than positive. that it is qualitatively different from all other technologies, in that it displaces humans themselves, rather than just human labor
anti-AI polemicists really need to hammer this point home at the exclusion of all other complaints about AI, which really only serve as red herrings that de-legitimize AI complaints in the eyes of the public |

The better objection is that we haven’t ever really solved spent fuel/waste storage, and any expansion or new mass adoption of nuclear requires that we do. I’ve always said we need to get treaties with desolate shithole countries to bury it there.
