lineman: prep - very hard to break into unless you descend from a multi-generational WASP family of linemen. very few minorities get in, let alone make it all the way through the apprenticeship. probably the most physically demanding trade, and it also requires a certain amount finesse and raw brainpower.
electrician: mostly nerd - clique depends heavily on what kind of electrical one does (industrial, commercial, residential). residential is mostly comprised of losers (less schooling, certs, etc.) whereas industrial is filled to the brim with nerds. requires knowing a decent amount of theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge. residential electricians are closer to drywallers and painters tbh and should be considered separate from commercial/industrial electricians.
ironworkers: scum - dui's and domestic violence charges plague the members of this trade. not much to ironworking other than knowing how to use a measuring tape, level, and rigging.
