The Japanese government forbade Isuzu from making passenger cars for decades. Eventually they were granted permission to put a few passenger cars on the market, but only a few. They had to borrow the v6 engine design from GM because I guess Isuzu never made a V6 before?
Yamaha was also only ever permitted to make one fucking car engine, the V6 in the Taurus SHO. The Japanese government told them they could do marine engines and motorcycles only, no cars, but then they got permission to put a geek squad on this v6 engine for Ford. Shoulda just let them make cars!

No, the 3.2 and especially 3.5 V6 drank oil like I drank wild turkey and the first gen with the 2.8 derived v6 would blow up like all the other GM V6 of its ilk.
Now, the big 4 banger trooper is credited (except they all rusted badly outside of the desert).
