Gaming on PC in the 90s and 2000s was a such a PITA that I gave up and have only played on Xbox for something like 25 years. Day 1 Xbox Live subscriber. But I like being able to game with my boys and the landscape seems to have shifted considerably toward PC (as XOs console scholarship has shown me). They have Steam decks and are getting Steam Machines for Christmas (IOUs for them anyway).
For myself, I’d like something that can run 4K games on my nice monitor (https://rog.asus.com/us/monitors/above-34-inches/rog-strix-xg43uq-xbox-edition-model/). Building a PC with the kids could be fun, but I don’t need computer hardware to become a new hobby. Should I build or buy? And at what specs? Or just pre-order another Steam Machine when they come out?

i filtered it by price ($2k-$4k) so you dont see poorfag setups. definitely build your own. pc builders cheap out on key components like SSD, RAM, etc.
