I didn't even like shadow of the colossus and it's Japanese-made. PS1 - coolboarders bullshit. PS2 - sly cooper/god of war bullshit. PS3, Uncharted was decent but actually making Games almost broke them. Then TLOU came and it was mediocre then and the sequel is ghastly.
It's 2025. PS5 came out in 2020. The HBO app was ghastly unless you had PS5 or a very new TV. Coronavirus was raging. PS5 plays 4K Blu Rays whereas PS4 doesn't. PS5, despite having very few exclusives, still gets everything PC does except hardcore mouse/keyboard games, plus it gets Demon's Souls and Bloodborne backwards compatibility. Anyway, PS5 already exists, it's entrenched. Switch 1 is entrenched. Now explain what the fuck they are doing with Switch 2. The Screen aside. The Battery aside. The Worse Performance of Switch 1 games in handheld aside. I don't think they need to have western AAA annual output of the Same Game. but if they could just give us one fuckin' game that actually uses the hardware, it would be nice. Prime 4 being cross-gen and running so well on Switch 1 is a nice break and is Pro-Consumer tbh, but in getting that game running on 60 FPS on the Switch 1, they kind of prove my point. It isn't a "real" Switch 2 game. They could've just given us something AAA/Exclusive/4k/60 FPS and westerners would jizz themselves. they're trying to do this with Cyberpunk. The Nintendo fandom really, really like Cyberpunk. It's on a Cartridge somehow btw. But it'd be cool if there was a fuckin' 2025, Nintendo Engineered AAA 4k exclusive. Like we've been conditioned to think that Games take 10 years to make. But why can't Super Mario RPG 2 with Shady Toad exist? I know it's not their thing. I don't literally mean Mario RPG. I just mean "Game that Justifies the Hardware." Mario RPG 2 should exist though. but such an idea is unthinkable in Kyoto.
also Nintendo's CEO being a random salaryman accountant is questionable. he's doing the thing of having High Prices that the MSFT shrew CEO was pushing. There's not enough attention paid to Product Management and they're mismanaging the Brand by having 50,000,000k Losers pissed at them and their current State.
btw Console Firms only come out with Games when they're desperate. we've been over this. Valve - No Games and a yacht. PS3- No Games until they didn't have a choice and they almost went broke doing it and Kutagari committed seppuku. Dreamcast - had an embarrassment of riches and failed because it looked desperate. N64 - We only got Zelda OOT because Nintendo needed it in order to survive imho. I think once Pokemon came around, they got lazy. OOT was like do or die. Miyamoto might've ended up Homeless if it didn't succeed. Discuss. |

Metroid Prime 4's one success is running smooth af and looking amazing on Switch 1. But this success undermines the Switch 2 GAMES. Bananza could've been a Switch 1 game. MKW, maybe. Bananza, definitely. Prime 4 on Switch 1 looks more impressive then Bananza or MKW imho. JMO, YMMV.
Switch 2 is New Hardware. the purpose of New Hardware is to play better games. Granted, it does make a big difference for games that pushed the Switch 1 or which were poorly optimized like pokemon. Discuss. |

Affording a Console was a big deal in like 2001. Adult Gen Xers COULD NOT AFFORD PS2. The Gen X cohort stopped gaming quite early in life because of their low incomes. Only Entitled Millennials could get consoles for christmas and it usually contributed materially to credit card debt imho. If you had some horrifying prole job in 2001 you would've had to work for 80 hours to afford a PS2 and No Games. But gas stations pay $20/hr now, so you could Afford a Switch 2 in like 25 hours. yeah, "housing" is expensive but these Losers live at home if they don't ace OCI sooooooooooo yeah.
