there aren't really any conservative cities but there are overgrown conservative suburbs that have poor urban planning, little walkability, and are effectively dead.
basically, your desire to live in a place that's 1. "not dead" and 2. "a city" means you can't live in a conservative place. a different way of thinking about it is that you pay for the liveliness of a city via taxes. you can choose whether the majority of your neighbors being liberal is a problem. for the most part it won't change your life in any way, positive or negative. similarly, living around conservative neighbors (in a suburb) won't change your life either.
cartel violence is a myth in the us and not a real problem outside of people and populations that are drug connected. |

Mesa is another possibility, but I don't know if it qualifies as a "moderate climate." And both places have a shit ton of Mormons. But I struggle to think of any non-shitlib cities that are not Mormon cities.
Otherwise, your best bet is probably a medium-sized city in a red state to keep the worst of the shitlibbery in check. Greenville, SC, Huntsville, AL, and Omaha, NE all jump to mind, although I am sure there are others.
Edit: St. George, Utah is another good option if you consider it to be a "city." (The metro area has about 200,000 people.) It's ruby red, the climate is fairly nice, and it's a beautiful area to boot. |
