You absolutely do not see this every year, because not hiring a minority associate happens fairly rarely. When it does happen, vague insinuations don't cut it - the response would follow the format above. This is ANOTHER comment that demonstrates that this flame sucks.
Also, not sure you realize this but most large firms have 100% offer rates. Texas is a different game (and that means he is splitting with another firm) but LOL @ Texas firms dinging someone because he liked Trump.

You don't even have to list that as a reason, you can just say "didn't like them, they seemed like they would be unpleasant to work with."
OTOH, anyone talking politics at an interview unless they 100% know the politics of the person they're talking to and 100% agree is a fucking moron. |

There are multiple people who fill out reviews for summer associates, and if one person gives the summer associate low marks and everyone gives the summer associate high marks, the questions raised won't be about the summer associate.
If the summer associate did get dinged for supporting Trump, it probably was because he or she was obnoxious about it and ruffled a lot of people's feathers. So more than one reviewer would comment on the summer associate's lack of judgment with respect to sensitive issues. I know more than one Trumpmo in Biglaw, even NYC Biglaw.
You get dinged as a summer for two things: (1) lack of judgment (hooking up with associates/partners indiscreetly, getting too drunk, drugs, jumping into the Hudson river) and (2) not giving a shit. |
