The Christian Syrians are overwhelmingly Assad allies. The Kurds include a few Christians but are overwhelmingly Muslims. Trump was against the concept of permanent entanglement in Syria. And after he pulled out the Kurds made peace with Assad and it was generally fine, except Turkey moved in. Trump COULD have then moved back in and taken on Turkey, a NATO ally. It would have been costly and created a huge amount of problems, so he didn't. In the end it all worked out without American lives or dollars so I don't see what the complaint is. |
