The first hour was compelling and then Nolan submerged his head up his own ass and stroked his overblown ego by making the film way more complicated than it needed to be all to deliver a twist/reveal at the end of the film that did not deliver and was totally unnecessary given the subject matter. It’s like the guy’s too insecure to tell a straightforward narrative because he’s aftaid he’s not a strong enough director to make it interesting so instead he resorts to all sorts of time jumps etc. which he thinks somehow cause the film to be “prestige cinema”. barely even hear mention of the holocaust at any the ortho shul. the only time the holocaust comes up in some greater philosophical debate about why bad things happen to good people. the destruction of the two temples are far bigger tragedies in ortho judaism than the holocaust. |
