Grunge and Britpop are almost meaningless terms.

Grunge groups have almost nothing in common with each other. The same with the Britpop bands.
The terms only describe an era and place where music was being made (the West Coast or England during the 90s). The Seattle Scene would be a better term to replace grunge.

grunge was silly. sound garden and AIC were metal bands. also, Metalica, def lepeard, guns n roses, etc were all puting out high selling albums and huge tours in the 90s. grunge was a part of 90-95, it wasnt the whole thing.
also, great career move by cobain to suicide his face off.
