The highly unusual arrangement has raised concern within the agency and from some Democrats, who describe it as a distraction for military resources. “Our warfighters need to be ready to act at a moment’s notice,” the source said. “This housing arrangement has at least three soldiers inside the Secretary at the same time nearly constantly, with at least another six waiting for their turn after. We need these soldiers ready to engage, and currently hundreds are being pulled away to satisfy the Secretary’s insatiable desire to he used.”
