Bill Belichick was once considered Lombardi-level great at his career peak

brother the minute Brady left NE Belichick was exposed as a fraud
Brady’s first year in TB (career high yards, 2nd highest TDs thrown, Super Bowl champion) made it look like if anything Belichick’s coaching was holding Brady’s true potential back his whole career

What a joke. The “fraud” claim collapses the moment you leave quarterback worship and look at football as a system that actually has moving parts imho. Belichick drafted Richard Seymour at six and built a front that strangled the league for a decade, stole Vince Wilfork at twenty one and turned the middle of the field into a no go zone, took Ty Law late in the first and rode him into the Hall, found Asante Samuel in the fourth, Devin McCourty at twenty seven, Dont’a Hightower at twenty five who decided multiple Super Bowls, Julian Edelman in the seventh as a converted college quarterback, Matthew Slater in the fifth and then quietly built the greatest special teams unit of the modern era. This was not luck. This was pattern recognition. Defensively the Patriots finished top ten in scoring defense in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2014, 2016 and 2018 across rule changes and roster churn, held the Rams to seventeen in Super Bowl XXXVI, held the league’s highest scoring offense to three points through three quarters in Super Bowl LIII, erased Marvin Harrison in 2003, took away Marshall Faulk in 2001, baited Russell Wilson into the most famous interception in history by calling the exact look he knew Seattle would attack iirc. These are not Brady throws. These are coaching decisions imo. Then there are the small moments the box score crowd never sees: the intentional safety against Denver in 2003 to flip field position, the snow game tuck rule sequence where the defense immediately fuckin’ shut the door, the weekly special teams edges, blocked kicks, hidden yardage, clock manipulation that turned games into math problems opponents could not solve. Brady leaving proved Brady was great. It did not magically erase two decades of elite defenses, schematic violence, and institutional discipline. If Belichick were a fraud the league would not have spent twenty years trying and failing to copy him. And I say this as a guy who only watches CFB for the most part. JMO, YMMV.

Dumb post. He clearly is the best NFL coach ever.
"Oh wow, when he was fucking 70, and every coach had access to every one of his ideas for 24 years, he was just a middling coach - guess he sucked!"
It's sort of like saying The Beatles were a shitty band because Machine Gun Kelly had more rock hits in 2025. Machine Gun Kelly doesn't know shit without The Beatles, and it shouldnt be on The Beatles to come up with 1,000 new ways to play music - they came up with 800.

you realize he was a loser when coaching the Browns, right?
you realize he has a losing record at NE without Brady, right?
brady btw won a super bowl at 40 without him.
