Thank you, brother. It means the world to me.

Also, recently, I managed to fill the first page of my nickel album. I am now at 65/66, missing only the 1937-D 3 Legged Variety.

One thing I don't like about albums is they tell you what to buy. (What about the overdates? Doubled dies? The 3.5 legger?)

Personally, I'd upgrade 14-D & omit the 3-legger.

Ever consider older, shorter sets like V-nickels or either 3-cent series?

My 14-D is crap, I admit. Well, it’s like a G6. But yes that one needs improvement. I’m still working on it.

Yes, and it's a nice example.

But there are other overdates & DDs that aren't included in Danscos in general. Only ones that are popular (or were decades ago) are ever included.

If it weren't for Dansco & the Redbook, the 1955 DDO cent would sell for 10% of what it does now. Actually, anything added to the Redbook can expect a huge price bump...

This kind of stuff is one of the reasons I moved away from US coins.

Also, what's with the black gunk on the 18-D & a few others?

I'm a big fan of VerdiCare, and recommend it to everyone. I always perform conservation/preservation work on coins I acquire.

I'm not sure. I also don't know much about coin restoration. I know that if you leave a cent coin in vinegar for too long it takes on the look of red clay. Kind of a good look, but some don't like it. Vinegar and baking soda can really easily remove corrosion that I've seen. Also, dunking steel cents in vinegar has been effective for me.

VerdiCare was made for early coppers. It's a solvent that doesn't impact a coin's surfaces, and targets verdigris & 'gunk'. I have like eight bottles of it and have used it for over a decade.

You can get good results with many orgo solvents (e.g., acetone, xylene), but you want to limit exposure to these. Oh, and DON'T spill them on your desk.

I always stay away from acids. Even diluted acids like vinegar can impact the surface of the coin. There's probably an art to acid cleaning, but I just don't do it.

Yeah, flew the whole crew to Santa Ana’s John Wayne Airport, then an Uber XL up to Anaheim for a Disneyland experience. Took my family out to eat at about 4 restaurants while we were out there too.
