Renters are getting absolutely raeped. There is No Future for rentmos. Homeowners will always have something in the bank by contrast.

Homeowners are always better off long term because they're forced to save/build equity and it's much harder to pull it out on a whim like with stocks. so they keep it invested, compounding, and growing wealth.

Cr friend

Meanwhile Jews own massive amounts of real estate in every city to keep goyim poor. First they take their rent money and give it to Israel, then they tax the goyim and give that money to Israel too. You're really paying them twice.

i dont understand how anyone rents longterm without some govt "low income housing/rent control" bs, which im largely against. renting is such a pita logistically.

People like it because they can move around a lot and never worry about maintenance and upkeep. Since no one has kids it's easy to pack up your corgi and move to a new city every couple of years. You miss out on the tax breaks though.

What about all those graphs showing how much better off you'd be with s&p returns and renting studio apartment and not spending time/money maintaining anything? That is if you invested cash in market not house

This is probably true but you would have to live like a monk and have no life. Probably couldn't do wife and kids. You'd have to be some kind of weirdo and have extreme discipline. With a house you get enormous tax breaks, you are saving money in a growth asset, you get to actually live somewhere nice during the bulk of your life and you can have a normal life. Renters try to obtain these things too but most are in a one bedroom in the city or something. Would be interesting to compare what it would cost to rent say a 4 bedroom house in a nice area vs the S&P trick. Maybe it is still better but you have to live somewhere. It's possible but if it were easy more people would do it.

wow. so if you completely abandon any pretense of a normal life and invest all the money you would have spent having a family, friends, fun, etc. then you will be able to die with a bigger screen number? one weird trick!

This is a really bizarre fantasy shared by people with no significant assets other than their home and Poor Redditors

Renting is actually more cost effective than owning right now unless you were already locked in to an ultra low rate mortgage. If you rent you just put your money in assets that appreciate faster than home values (which you can't even realize until you sell, and then you have to buy another home anyway)

The real reason to own a home is if you have a family and you need a space to raise a family in. Not as a financial asset

Most people don't have a family because financially they can't afford it.

Most people who own a home are way ahead financially of the people who don't.

Most people who rent don't have enough income to set aside to accumulate stocks of any kind.

Most people can't afford a family, a home, or to invest substantially in assets. Most people are fucked and have No Future. People who own homes at least have a home, and possibly a family. They might have up to two things most people don't have.

My ROI on home ownership after 53 years is abysmal (less than 3% on current house over 26 years), but there is no way I could have had a comparable quality of residential life by being a rentmo. OTOH, I have a recurrent dream that I have kept my first apartment all these years and go back there to get some peace and quiet.
