This is one of my favorite stones songs. They have so many great deep cuts.

Heard "She's So Cold" the other day and I was struck by how much magic they had.

The entire song isn't even really built on a riff. Its just a kind of half-riff. And the lyric has the same halfway-worked-out quality. Just one idea, really. "Im burning up and she's frigid", repeated 57 times.

And it's not in their pantheon of famous songs, but it just hits so perfectly and is better than what almost anyone else would put out.

I do, in fact, have to hand it to boomers in this regard.

The Rolling Stones are English. Foreigners don’t have Gens.

American Boomer music is all that tired tripe you hear on your local Scumbag classic rock station.

the stones are my favorite band ever, hands down and nobody comes close imo. this is a big part of that. they were so perfect together, and if you look at the solo stuff they did, it's nothing in comparison.

they harnessed magic from about 1965 until 1982. then they started sucking.

Just like the Beatles, they needed a drummer who was a cut above the other musicians in the band in terms of raw talent. Both Ringo and Charlie Watts were established figures in their own right by the the time they became affiliated with these rock and roll bands. The Rolling Stones needed that dood to keep time, for one thing.

The Who had a drummer who couldn't keep time, so they used keyboards and shit for songs like Join Together where drums would normally keep time. The drummer was driving the band, but he wasn't "in the pocket" like Charlie Watts, and the band didn't have 1/50th as many hit singles.

Paul McCartney was far and away the best pure musician in the Beatles.

paraphrasing famous John Lennon remark:

Interviewer: "John, is Ringo the best drummer in the world in your view?"

John Lennon: "Ringo's not even the best drummer in The Beatles."
