How come China, with so much continuity, never invented anything?

China has tons of ancient historical figures that were geniuses in math or science, but only in recent times has there been real exchange between east and west, so of course any scientific developments or breakthroughs in Europe will not build off of what was discovered in China, or vice versa. |

The West was a feuding backwater until the Renaissance and Enlightenment. The Roman Empire itself did not produce much of lasting value to western civilization despite the scale of classical Rome.
It's amazing how legitimately fucking naive people are when it comes to realizing there is absolutely nothing special about the west anymore and China is brutally far ahead in general capability of the populace. They have copied our system and basically produce everything on earth with far more smart people than any other single country can muster.
