My understanding is that the big problem with Subway is that they were so desperate for additional franchise revenue that they let new franchises open up anywhere, including right next door to existing franchises. If you're in a good location with no other franchises nearby, you're probably doing okay. But most Subway franchises have 3-4 other Subway franchises within a two-block radius.

TINTCR, Subway has been in severe decline for two decades now, as usual XO encouraged buying at the top. That same money in broad base index funds would have been much better, without the hassle of managing a fucking Subway (let alone 3 or 4 of them)
