back in 2019 Jonathan Franzen imbibed the conventional wisdom and suggested that since it's too late to stop catastrophe we should accept it. he got dog-piled by climate change alarmists, which caught my attention. the implicit critique was that alarmism is a noble fiction to deceive the low-info voters and citizens.
then the top NYT climate change writer softened his stance. that might have been 3 years ago or so. still, the party line mostly held.
but for me the big recent bellwether was three weeks ago when Bill Gates came out and admitting the alarmism is fraud. now i'm seeing the cascade ripple out everywhere. |
