Family identifies Atlanta Rapper 'NBL Big Twin' as man killed at apartment complex

An Atlanta rapper known as NBL Big Twin was shot and killed Friday night at an apartment complex in southwest Atlanta, his family confirmed to 11Alive's Chase Houle.

People living at Greenbriar Commons said that a pile of shattered glass at the complex marked the area where the rapper was shot.

Family members identified the victim as Nakia Starr, who was known to his more than 240,000 Instagram followers as NBL Big Twin.

A video posted to social media shows Starr alongside Atlanta music artist CeeLo Green.

Following Starr's death, Green posted a photo of the two together on Facebook and reflected on a recent interaction they shared.

"I got heart for all the young boys in the struggle, cause I was one of them. I'm gonna always try to help, that's why I'm standing right there to let them all know I'm here and it's possible," Green wrote in part.

Neighbors also tell Chase a shooting happened just hours after Starr was killed and claim it was in retaliation to his death.

While the Atlanta Police Department could not confirm that, it did confirm a shooting Saturday morning at the complex just before 3:30.

The Atlanta Police Department says no arrests have been made in that shooting or in Starr's death.
