The way people use AI now, an agent is giving most of these directives directly to another agent most of the time

Why do you assume this? We're simultaneously creating robots.
Let's assume that we get to the point that AI can improve itself - at which case - it's getting more intelligent exponentially as humans get more intelligent linearly.
It's easy to see that in 20 or 40 years, AI has left humans in the dust in the same way that a human is more intelligent than a dog.
Do you need a dog to keep the lights on? Or would you just steal everything a dog has ever created and use it for yourself? |
