more importantly it's a sea of infinite distraction. for the vast majority of kids there was only so much TV you can watch before you get bored, but you can toss a tablet at a kid anywhere at any time and they will find a way to occupy themselves. |

Each show was 22 minutes broken up over commercial breaks with a cogent plot kids had to use their brains to follow.
The shit on YouTube now is just non-stop brainrot. You literally could sit for 24 hours and never watch the same episode twice.

Granted, they were mostly retreads of Hanna-Barbara cartoons and shit, but it was still mind-blowing to be able to watch cartoons at any hour of the day.
But even with cartoon network, I only watched certain cartoons for a certain period of time. I didn't sit there and watch non-stop episodes of "SWAT KATZ". My brain had to take a break because I didn't want to watch some dumbass episode of "Birdman"
