My parents were poor and I didn't receive many toys growing up, especially early on. But I was obsessed with Transformers and wanted Optimus Prime more than anything. So my parents scrounged to get him for me -- the only wrapped toy I ever remember receiving, now that I think about it. I remember excitedly tearing open the package to find that what they actually bought me was the brand new Ultra Magnus instead of Optimus Prime. I hadn't even seen the movie. So I started crying, which must have disappointed my dad terribly, who didn't understand it at all. I doubt my dad even earned $250/wk back then, and the toy was $25 (now that I look it up). I remember all of that and feel ashamed every Christmas.

by far my most memorable christmas present was getting an snes in the early 90's, I truly don't remember what year but maybe like 92 or 93? I was fucking blown away that I got one when I opened it up, just beyond amazed.

I'm not a list guy, I don't recall ever asking for a particular present outside of computers later in life when it was essentially just my parents buying me the computer I would need and me customizing it for my birthday

I got SMB All-Stars for Christmas in the '90s.

I'm sure I got other NES/SNES games for Christmases, but I don't remember which ones offhand.

My parents wouldn't get me an NES, so I saved up my $2/week allowance for over a year to get one.

the entire genre of single-game hand-held console things. i had a red one with some kind of ninja fighting game on it which seemed enthralling at the time despite its low-quality black-and-gray LCD graphics and low refresh rate.

I remember a red & blue one. One was a race car, and one was space-related.

I think they came from Radio Shack.
