Sao Tome. Principe looks 1800000 but the boat ride is really long and i’m not flying a puddle jumper in a made up country. Maybe next time.

Mostly beach. There are a very limited (and probably underwhelming) # of tourist things. Chill on DAT beach.

What do they eat there, Portuguese food?

Chill place, or place to get murdered for $5?

What’s your country count after this?

Apprently they are all laid back and chill AF. I expect the vibe to be like a carib island where nothing happens on time and everyone’s chill. Looks like a mix of cuisines. Found a place that allegedly makes amazing food, tasting menu is 20€. Will try to have hotel book when I get in. Only difficulty may be 1. Apparently everyone only speaks Portugeuse and 2. Unclear if you can withdraw $ from ATM with foreign card. I believe this moves me to 123, Namibia will take it to 124 before heading home.

Plan to go to town tonight, be up early tomorrow to knock of tourism with a guide/car from the AM, get to the restau for lunch at 1pm, finish tourism after then go check out some of the better beaches. Spend the whole last day at the beach, maybe rent a car and go drive around.

Some of the best food I ever had was in Mozambique - there’s something about Portuguese colonies, they ate well

I’m way off that, still in mid-high double digits (about 80 I think)

Nyt travel shrew just wrote about this:

Had I done cursory research on the dual-island African nation of São Tomé and Príncipe, I would have known to show up with a wad of euros, because the society is completely cash-based and there are no ATMs foreigners can use.

LJL just went to go meet my guide for a 9am pickup since my phone and the internet tell me it’s 9am. Desk told me it’s actually only 8am because they recently decided to change their time zone and I guess never informed the rest of the world. So I guess it’s 8:02AM now. VERY laid back country.
