They thought it’d be a fraud to play the bowl game with 1/3 of the roster missing and have that game go on the record. The players wanted their last game played for the season to be a real game with the actual team. |

I ALWAYS SAID that paying players would ruin the sport, that they were coddled and got "enough" perks at the big programs, and I assumed there was backhanded payments to these players too. Even on xo there were lots of people like "but the players deserve to be paid."

One example that happens a lot - big donor car dealer owners "leasing" expensive cars to players for $1/year, etc etc etc
