Traffic ticket lawyer here. I watch probably a good 2-3 hours of trials per week waiting for my cases to be called. They can be fairly entertaining at times, especially when you have idiot pro pers. It can get pretty old, because they all make the same stupid arguments. Literally 75% of people who have a car pool ticket claim that they swerved into the lane to avoid an accident. Judge hears that story a couple times a week, minimum. Listening to most of them it makes one realize how dumb most people really are.
Also, it can be pretty sad too, because probably 2/3 of judges have already convicted people before they even hear the facts. Some judges just don't give a fuck. It's actually very refreshing when you have a judge who will actually listen to the facts.

I try to keep good relations with all of them. I never put them on blast and try to call them out at trial for lying or anything. I can accomplish far more by getting them to agree to lower a charge. Most of them I see pretty regularly, probably 4-5 times a year.
I actually had an incident recently, where my client was charged with driving 110 mph, which is a 2 point offense. I spoke with the officer (who was a Sergeant), and asked if we could stipulate to a speed of 100 mph (which would make it a one point offense) and I would plead guilty. He said sure, but when we went in front of the judge he didn't realize that 100 mph would be the lesser offense. Basically he didn't understand the law, and he thought I was trying to pull one over on him, because he didn't mean to agree to the lesser offense. We ended up going to trial, and I think he was rattled, because he forgot to testify that he was wearing a uniform, and I got a not guilty on a total technicality.
Later, he told my associate that I shouldn't "expect any favors" from his police agency. Apparently he was pretty pissed. I saw him again today and made sure to go out of my way to apologize to him and say I wasn't trying to pull a fast one, that it was a misunderstanding and my mistake. My credibility with the police is super, super important. Basically all my clients are guilty, it's just a question of how to lesson the impact, and the best way to do that is with the cooperation of the officer.
