Yeah. Like the above poaster said, it's horrible. Everything about it sucks. I found the people to be rude and standoffish towards outsiders, which was my biggest complaint with the NWT, Yukon, and northern BC generally, but it was exceptionally bad in Yellowknife. The climate is obviously harsh as fuck, too. It's regularly -40 outside and when the wind starts blowing it becomes infuriatingly cold. The northern lights are extremely cool however, and make up for the cold when they put on a show, which isn't very often. The economy revolves around mining and while salaries can be high, there's not much to spend money on and everything is expensive anyway.
I fucked this fat alcoholic first nations girl who was a total townie. Massive tits but her ass was super flat. It was like her back had a crack in it. I think she saw me as her ticket out of her hellish life in Yellowknife and tried to babytrap me. She told me she was pregnant so I cut off all contact with her, changed my number, and went dark on social media. Fortunately I've got a polish last name and she couldn't pronounce it, let alone remember how to spell it, so I dodged a real bullet there.

I've never been to Iqaluit, but I've been to lots of places like Iqaluit. Truthfully some are actually pretty nice. McCarthy, AK, for example, is an extremely credited white man village. Remote, but still accessible by road. The scenery is extraordinary and the people are friendly af. It's a bunch of outdoorsy, off the grid types there. Everybody in town is invited to their midnight beer and softball games, and the overall atmosphere is 180. The isolation is nice, too, of that's something you're into. I would move to McCarthy in a heartbeat.
Even the 180 places attract strange people though. Half of McCarthy's year-round residents were killed when a local lunatic went on a rampage in the 80s.
Some of these places, particularly the impoverished ones, are downright hellish. Since they're in the far north, the types water and sewage systems we're used to seeing don't work in permafrost environments. The larger towns have aboveground sewage pipelines servicing most homes and businesses, but smaller villages have no such luxuries. These places use "honeybuckets," aka Home Depot buckets for their shit and piss. The women and kids carry these honeybuckets contents to the local sewage lagoon when needed.
There's no economy to speak of in most of them, so jobs are nonexistent. Income comes mostly from native corporation dividends, the PFD, and transfer payments in Alaska. Not sure about Canada, but I imagine it's similar. They live a subsistence lifestyle. Hunting and fishing for most of their food. It may sound romantic, but it's still poverty.
There's also a ton of child molestation, sexual abuse, rape, and domestic violence in these places. Every police officer in Stebbins, AK, for example, has been convicted of domestic violence. I think one was even a sex offender. There's also quite a bit of substance abuse in some of these places as well.

Cr. There are a lot of crazies up there. When Israel Keyes was caught, he mentioned an abortive attempt to snipe a couple and a cop at Point Woronzof. He decided not to when a second police officer pulled up at the last minute. I was single at the time and would often take dates there to watch the planes come in and enjoy the scenery. I don't remember the month, but I remember taking a date there in summer 2011 and being told to go home by the police. I imagine that's something that happens most nights, but it's still a possibility that I was an intended victim.

I was also there for James Dale Ritchie. Anchorage has some extremely 180 trails around town and I used to ride my bike on them all the time. Ritchie was a serial killer who shot people he encountered on the bike trails around town late at night using his Colt Python .357 Magnum. Even though he was only active late at night, I didn't do much riding that summer.
Another guy I know was hiking out near Gunsight Mountain when he walked up on a remote cabin. This happens regularly when navigating through the bush, and most will stop by for a chat if the cabin's owner makes his presence known. Not many kock on the door unless specifically invited, but they'll make some noise and yell "hello" to alert the person in the cabin to their presence. He was about to start making noise when he noticed a barrel nearby and looked inside, finding the contents to be several beheaded and mutilated puppies. Needless to say he got the fuck out of there and quick.
