Why does this happen in every soccer game Ive ever seen, played by the world's best athletes.

Hey, we only get 10 shots on goal the entire 90 minutes, let me just sail this one fifteen yards over the cross bar whoops

I was waiting for this.

Imagine an NFL where every game you watched included multiple throws 15 yards over the receivers hands and out of the back of the endzone. Whoops.

And every time the ball sails 50 feet over the goal there has to be this Academy Award winning performance where the shooter clutches his head with both hands in disbelief.

They have giant doods chasing them and the receivers are moving. Soccer players miss a giant, stationary goal after taking two minutes setting up the shot.

It can be very difficult to keep the ball from sailing when it's hit hard. Hitting the ball at the wrong spot or off the wrong part of your cleat will send it sailing. When you're hitting the ball as hard the pros, there is very little room for error.

I mostly watch these days waiting for that eureka evolutionary moment, like a chimp figuring out how to use a stick to get ants out of a tree hollow, when the first one of these eurofuckers tentatively picks the ball up with his hands and experimentally tosses it to an astonished teammate.

This was the best anti-soccer argument I've seen. I remember Max Kellerman making it around the time of a previous world cup. He said you know what would be awesome, if they took soccer, shrank the goal down, move it closer together, get rid of a bunch of the players on the field and put the goal high in the air where you could watch incredible athletes make the ball go in using the evolutionary advantage of the opposable thumb. AKA- I'll watch basketball.

It does seem like a lot of players would rather try to break down two defenders for the spectacular goal which validates their ability rather than try for a more open shot.

ball bobbles a bit even on good surfaces, get under it by a bit too much and you'll sky it. also, ball is often top spinning when a player takes it first-time, causing it to rise. also, body positioning is often less than ideal when coming on to a free ball

it's like how in baseball you fail 70% of the time and you're a hall of famer.

Sorry, is the soccer ball you're kicking coming at you at 95 miles per hour while moving around?

Oh, no it isn't?

Retarded Americans like games where scoring is very easy. They would love soccer if it was some scheme where it was just a succession of penalty kicks and the score was in the 50s. And of course they love games where they can watch hundreds of ads in 3 hours as well.
