Yeah they’re like a caricature at this point.
1. The rest of the developed world has caught up on Italian food as a broad category. It’s honestly not that impressive in Italy. I’ve eaten everywhere. In all the big cities.
2. It is 100% debatable whether they have the best pizza, I think America does that way better. We have NY, Detroit, Neapolitan, even Chicago, they have Neapolitan only which is inferior as a style imho although it has its place. It’s mostly bread with a teaspoon of sauce. Nah I’m good fam.
3. Their coffee is ttt Arabica shit as you mentioned, ljl at their stupid espresso elitism and criticisms related to when you consume coffee. Stfu
4. Gelato is a real strength. We can’t compete with the density of good gelato in Italy.

They are cr about pasta generally being overcooked, but we’ve got it at this point. Just pull it before it’s done and throw it in a little sauce for a couple of mins. Boom. Done. It’s also much more forgiving than they have you believe once you get it out of the water.
Their espresso is fucking disgusting and any American “craft roaster” will have better beans than the 2-year-old Illy or Lavazza burnt-ass beans they use.
Their wine is 180, though. Nebbiolo is a fantastic grape. Neapolitan pizza is also 180, but every city in the West has VPN pizzerias everywhere now.
